Adhesives & Sealants
The quest for a polymer able to modify the performance of “sticky” difficult to remove chewing gum has lead to some interesting discoveries with respect to other similar tacky materials. In particular there are some very interesting and significant parallels to be drawn with various materials specifically those used in the areas of adhesives and sealants. These include vehicle assembly lines, packaging applications, glazing, waterproofing, soundproofing, bookbinding, adhesive tapes, labels, protective films and a multitude of further applications where either barrier or bonding properties are demanded in both domestic and industrial situations.
The versatility of the Amphiphilic Graft Copolymers developed and patented by Revolymer is appreciated. Revolymer®’s core competence lies in the ability to tailor the Copolymers to customer’s application requirements presents a multitude of opportunities for novel innovative uses.
Novel architectures can be formulated into finished products to deliver performance in demanding application end uses such as:
- Adhesion to wet substrates.
- Tolerance of high humidity/aqueous contamination.
- Reduced rigidity/increased shock and impact resistance.
- Reduced cold flow/improved creep resistance.
- Use as non-migratory plasticisers.
As well as the formulation of:
- Re-moistenable/re-pulpable adhesive systems.
- Removable adhesive systems and easy peel sticking plasters.
- Skin friendly adhesives for transdermal patches.
- Easy to clean, safe children’s play doughs, paints & glues.
- Clean sealants.
These are examples of the current possibilities for Amphiphilic Graft Copolymers and more are emerging. In addition to the patented products Revolymer also has extensive experience in other technologies (link to Technology page).
